Urbanisation et santé reproductive dans les quartiers informels : une analyse rapide des données disponibles en Afrique subsaharienne

Résumé

L'Afrique subsaharienne (ASS) connaît une urbanisation croissante. Cette urbanisation rapide a des répercussions sur les systèmes sociaux, économiques et de santé. Nous avons mené une analyse rapide de la littérature existante afin de comprendre les doubles impacts de l'urbanisation sur la santé reproductive, en nous concentrant sur les populations vivant dans des quartiers informels au sein des zones urbaines de l'ASS. Les critères PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Extension for Scoping Reviews) ont été adoptés pour cette revue. Les documents ont été extraits des bases de données électroniques et moteurs de recherche suivants : Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, JSTOR, Wiley Online Library et SpringerLink. Les titres et résumés des publications ont été examinés de manière indépendante à l'aide du logiciel de gestion de revues Rayyan. Au total, 21 études répondaient aux critères d'inclusion. Les principaux résultats révèlent que si l'urbanisation améliore l'accès aux services de santé maternelle et l'utilisation de la contraception, elle exacerbe les disparités parmi les résidents des quartiers informels en raison d'obstacles économiques, systémiques et environnementaux. Parmi les thèmes qui se dégagent figurent les inégalités en matière de santé maternelle et infantile, les besoins non satisfaits en matière de contraception et le double fardeau des maladies transmissibles et non transmissibles. Les stratégies visant à atténuer ces défis comprennent le développement des infrastructures, les interventions communautaires, les innovations en matière de santé numérique et les politiques sensibles au genre.
