Analysis of the Status of Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 and Future Prospects: The Case of the City of Guercif (Eastern Morocco)

Abstract
This study, based on data collected from a questionnaire administered to a representative sample of residents of Guercif city, focuses on a vision for the city's transformation. The objective is to highlight the current state of implementation of Sustainable Development Goal six (SDG6). The results highlight several important factors related to the implementation of SDG6. Regarding water availability, it was found that 41,36% of respondents did not always have sufficient access to water, underscoring the problem of partial water scarcity in the city. The study revealed that only 5,00% of the surveyed sample was satisfied with the taste of the drinking water. Concerns about the sustainable management of water resources are raised by the lack of reuse in the urban environment. Furthermore, 85,00% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the management of water supply by the relevant authority and complained about the unequal availability of this resource in different districts of the city, indicating a governance failure. The state of implementation highlights the need to improve infrastructure, water treatment techniques, education campaigns and governance mechanisms to effectively achieve SDG6 objectives for the city of Guercif.
